Okay, time to kick butt and chew bubblegum

I'm so bad at this blogging thing. I have nothing to blog about. My life is fairly mundane... write, research, write, edit, revise, edit, revise, look for appropriate mag markets, write... feed my spawn at some point, write... almost write a blog post and then delete the draft because it's stupid.

I'm a fiction writer. Writing about myself is tough. Or even writing about my writing. I am selfish and don't want to talk about what I'm writing.

But, I'm going to make a conscious effort to blog more. Dunno how much more, or what it will be about, but I'm going to at least try.

One thing I'm hoping to do is a "Spotlight Weird" weekly post about an interesting horror/spec fic/darkish magazine for writers to have a look at... and hopefully readers too. I send stuff out to these guys... the least I can do is share the love, right? That starts Saturday.

So... I don't know what else I'll be blogging about in my "I'm going to blog three times a week" thing, but it'll be something.

But for now...

Peace & Love, y'all

  1. I've been told to try to come up with daily subjects. Hard to do one every day, but people have their WIP Wednesday and a day where they discuss another author; I'm doing the post each Friday on what short fiction I've read throughout the week. You can do the writing progress posts and keep them vague, not going into detail about the story you're writing and just tell the world how much you've written.

It's tough, though. I still struggle with it, especially since I can tend to write a lot, which takes a good amount of time.

    So good luck! =)

  2. Good luck sweets. I look forward to it. I think of things in the most unusual places. Like the shower or while I'm driving. Today I thought of one where I wanted to write down all of the things I WISH I didn't know. So eventually that will be one of my posts. I think that you are amazing and you will be able to think up ideas easier than you give yourself credit for.

And if all else fails you can have people give you ideas. That may be cheating, but who knows... are you still interesting in doing that "Perception of Love" piece cause I'm Game if you are... it's been a while since I've mentioned it but it's better late than never right?

    Hugs.

  3. Writing about writing is hard at first. But think of it as a way to work out things. Perhaps you have some issue with a plot or a character. With this portion of your blog you can look at it in a different way.

Just some ideas and I am sure we can all help you with others when the time comes.

  4. You guys rock.

@Ken, I'm thinking about doing the weekly count thing with y'all. I'll have to do mine on Thursdays or Saturdays, cause my market spotlight thing is going to be on Fridays. And thanks for the luck. Goodness knows I need it with this blog.

@Hinny, I always have ideas. But they're usually lacking in delivery if you know what I mean. I am overly critical of my blog posts, methinks.

@Shadow, at first, that's all I wrote about was writing. But then I realized everything I said about it was already out there on someone else's blog, or website, or books about writing. Everybody who writes, writes about it. I may go back to it at some point, but I'll have to wait until I learn something new first hehe. I wasn't writing personally, though... with the exception of my three sentence outlines. Maybe if I tried that, I could work it. Thanks. :)

  5. Perhaps instead of writing to us you could write to you. This is the one place where you can write what you want and no one can fault you for it. Don't worry about what others might think. Just drop your mind on the page.

  6. Hehe... that's assuming I have a mind there, JJ. :) Sometimes, I am not quite so sure...
